Three days down and VMworld 2017 is still running at its peak here in Las Vegas as we head into the homestretch. Team Illumio has been busy, demoing and discussing our adaptive micro-segmentation technology at the Solutions Exchange and beyond, and I’ve covered a lot of ground (in miles and conversation). Here are a few of my observations from a series of announcements and sessions:Read more »
VMworld 2017 is here and Team Illumio has been preparing for months to make the most of the show. I wanted to share my thoughts on three topics I'll be focusing on as I attend various sessions and connect with fellow attendees, and where to go when you hit the expo floor to get the most out of the micro-segmentation conversation at the show:Read more »
In 2014, Illumio pioneered real-time application dependency mapping and visibility for micro-segmentation with Illumination. When we launched the Illumio Adaptive Security Platform (ASP), we believed that organizations wouldn't be able to build segmentation policy for their brownfield applications without an application dependency map (Illumio CTO PJ Kirner expounds upon why you need a map for security in a recent blog post). From our first version through today, Illumination has provided a way for organizations to use traffic flow visibility to build micro-segmentation policy, test it, and then start moving to enforcement – application by application.Read more »
The Networking 101 class I took 18 years ago started with the concept of static routes that were programmed by humans to connect machines. The first version of the Internet was built on static routes, but as it grew more dynamic, people quickly realized that having humans reprogram the static routes when things fail or change was not sustainable.Read more »
At this year’s fourth annual AWS re:Invent conference (my third time in attendance), I focused my time on digging deeper into containers—arguably today’s hottest topic. I, along with a few of my colleagues, had been experimenting with containers for a few months. I wanted to attend a few sessions and have engaging conversations with people who would come to the Illumio booth to figure out where the industry was headed.
So, what did I learn?Read more »
