Four things I'm reading this week:
- DARPA Grand Cyber Challenge: DARPA is sponsoring a national death-match between artificially intelligence cybersecurity systems. I'm reading "Cyber Teams Ready to Throw Down in Grand Challenge."
- Defending America’s Electric Grid from … Squirrels: Everyone obsesses about cyber threats to the electric grid, but perhaps we should be paying more attention to information operations like the DNC hacks. This article may be tongue-in-cheek, but it hits the nail on the head. I’m reading "The Threat to America’s Electrical Grid Is Much Bigger Than You Can Possibly Imagine."
- Building an Underwriters’ Laboratory for Software: If we want more secure software and devices, we need a consistent way to judge security. This is an important and promising step in that direction. I’m reading: "A Famed Hacker Is Grading Thousands of Programs—and May Revolutionize Software in the Process."
