Illumio CEO and Founder Andrew Rubin Named by Goldman Sachs as
One of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2015
SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Oct. 14, 2015 — Illumio today announced that Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) has recognized Illumio CEO and Founder Andrew Rubin as one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2015.
Illumio has emerged as a highly disruptive cybersecurity company under Rubin’s leadership, backed by top investors and technology leaders including Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Formation 8, BlackRock Funds, Accel Partners, Data Collective, John W. Thompson, Marc Benioff and Jerry Yang. Illumio has delivered the first security software platform that visualizes all applications and their communications anywhere they reside, and instantly contains cyber vulnerabilities inside data centers and clouds, where the most damaging data breaches occur.
“Being chosen by Goldman Sachs as one of the 100 most intriguing entrepreneurs of 2015 is an honor,” said Rubin. “This award also recognizes the Illumio team: Their hard work, dedication and innovation allow me to succeed as a leader and enable Illumio to deliver to our rapidly increasing customer base a breakthrough approach to data center and cloud security.”
In 2013, Rubin, along with CTO and co-founder PJ Kirner, established Illumio to provide organizations with protection against the 80 percent of data center and cloud traffic missed by perimeter security technologies. The software-based Illumio Adaptive Security Platform (ASP)™ provides continuous security through the industry’s only single architecture that works across data centers and private and public clouds without any dependencies on the network or hypervisor.
“We are honored to recognize Andrew Rubin as one of the most intriguing entrepreneurs of 2015,” said David Solomon, co-head of investment banking at Goldman Sachs. “This is an exciting time for entrepreneurs. This is the fourth year that we’ve hosted the Builders + Innovators Summit and we continue to be amazed by what happens when a diverse group of seasoned and emerging business leaders—the builders and innovators—come together to discuss how to drive innovation, create jobs, and build enduring organizations.”
For more than 145 years, Goldman Sachs has been advising and financing entrepreneurs as they launch and grow their businesses. In addition to honoring 100 entrepreneurs, the summit consists of general sessions and clinics led by Goldman Sachs experts, seasoned entrepreneurs, academics and business leaders as well as resident scholars.
Illumio delivers adaptive security for every computing environment, protecting the 80 percent of data center and cloud traffic missed by the perimeter. The company’s Adaptive Security Platform™ visualizes application traffic and delivers continuous, scalable, and dynamic policy and enforcement to every bare-metal server, VM, container, and VDI within data centers and public clouds. Using Illumio, enterprises such as Morgan Stanley, Plantronics, Salesforce, King Entertainment, NetSuite, and Creative Artists Agency have achieved secure application and cloud migration, environmental segmentation, compliance, and high-value application protection from breaches and threats with no changes to applications or infrastructure.
