This month, meet Jared Davis, Account Development Representative at Illumio. Learn how Illumio has helped evolve his career, how he applies the Bring Your Best core value to his work, and why the best part of his job is seeing his team succeed.

Tell me about yourself. What do you do at Illumio? 


I’m an Account Development Representative at Illumio. I help start conversations with organizations about Illumio Zero Trust Segmentation and connect them with Illumio’s sales team. I see my work as the boots on the ground for spearheading conversations with companies about Illumio.

What made you interested in working at Illumio? 


I had been working as a sound engineer at a small startup for a few years. But in 2020, I was ready to grow my career and dip my toes into the world of corporate technology. I was looking for a role where I could combine my interest in computer technology with my sales experience. Illumio ended up being a good fit for my skills and interests, and I was even promoted within my first year.  

What does a day in your life look like? What are you working on that excites you? 


An ADR role is a bit of a balancing act, so I try to have a consistent workflow. On any day, I’m researching accounts, doing outreach, and meeting with prospects.  

I also regularly sit down with Illumio’s leadership to learn about different parts of the organization and their approach to business. In just two years, Illumio has offered me so many opportunities for career and skills growth to help me evolve my career.

The best part of my job? I love seeing the time and effort my team and I put into accounts turn into real interest for Illumio. It’s exciting to see the challenges of our work pay off.  

What is the most important thing you’ve learned at Illumio so far? 


Efficient time management. My team has a lot of flexibility in how we manage our everyday schedule, so it’s up to me to make my schedule. At Illumio, I’ve refined how I use my time and make the most of my prospecting efforts.  

What are you passionate about outside of your career?  


It’s important to me to take the things I’m good at and be able to help people with them. That’s really what I consider my life goal and what I want to work towards in and out of work.  

On a more personal note, I love anything related to music. I have a playlist for everything and love deciphering and analyzing music.  

Which Illumio core value resonates most with you and why? 


Bring Your Best. At a fast-paced company like Illumio, there’s always something new to learn and focus on. This value is a reminder to do consistently good work to set me and my team up for success.  It’s important to me to have this kind of positive mindset.

What do you want people to know about working at Illumio?

Working at Illumio has been an incredible learning experience. I’ve been able to learn about different parts of an organization and the various stages of a company’s growth. I’ve also built new sales skills that will be a solid foundation for the rest of my career. I’m excited about my future in the industry with all the opportunities that Illumio offers me.
