Illumio Riding Market Momentum Into RSA Conference

RSA Conference 2022 is just around the corner, and Illumio heads into it with growing market momentum as the security industry recognizes the essential need for Zero Trust Segmentation.

Most notably, earlier this year Illumio was named a Leader in the first-ever Forrester New Wave™ for Microsegmentation, Q1 2022. That follows our ranking as a Leader in the Forrester Wave™ Zero Trust eXtended Ecosystem Platform Providers, Q3 2020.

For Illumio, the two reports confirm the core need for microsegmentation in helping organizations embrace and enforce Zero Trust security protections for bolstering Cyber Resilience.

In March, Forbes also recognized Illumio’s pioneering security efforts, noting that “Illumio has been an established leader in the Zero Trust arena for years.”

Also in March, Illumio CEO and co-founder Andrew Rubin contributed an article to NASDAQ titled Cybersecurity Is Our Greatest National Resilience Imperative. In the article, Rubin comments, “…bad actors aren’t going to wait for us to get our national security in order, they’re going to take advantage of any delay and it’s our job to stay one (or more!) steps ahead of them.”

Rubin also appeared on an episode of NASDAQ TradeTalks discussing the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to cyberattacks, the economic implications of a successful cyberattack, and stopping attacks through Zero Trust Segmentation.

Segmentation: The next step in the evolution of cybersecurity

Certainly, Illumio is riding a wave of accolades and record growth, making it one of the front-runners in a herd of unicorns.

Given all the attention, it seems that segmentation is the new black.

“It’s fair to say that right now segmentation in all forms is going through probably the most significant awareness uplift that we’ve ever seen,” Rubin says. “More enterprises are waking up and saying this is a core security control, I need to do this to protect my estate.”

With that shift in awareness, more and more organizations are now looking at how to best deploy segmentation for improving their Cyber Resilience.

As Illumio's co-founder and CTO Kirner notes, “Micro-segmentation isn’t an all-or-nothing strategy — the path to a zero-trust posture can be broken into bite-sized phases. This incremental approach is a journey that bolsters your security posture to reduce risk and increase cyber resiliency.”

Cloud security draws increased attention

As if the increased sophistication and inevitability of on-premises cyberattacks weren’t enough to cope with, the cloud has become an attractive target for bad actors, just as many large enterprises and government agencies are going all-in on cloud migration.

More and more workloads are moving to the cloud, but securing cloud workloads takes a different approach than in the data center. That’s why Illumio found such a receptive audience with its agentless cloud security solution, CloudSecure, releases late last year.

And with midsized and smaller companies jumping on the cloud bandwagon, cloud security has found an important place in the portfolio of managed service providers (MSPs).

Illumio's ability to help with new security threats from the cloud has it on another list: The 20 Coolest Cloud Security Companies of the 2022 Cloud 100.

Segmentation in the spotlight at RSA Conference

All of this is happening against the backdrop of governmental security directives imploring organizations large and small to take rapid, substantial steps to greatly improve their Zero Trust security practices, something that the Illumio Zero Trust Segmentation platform is purpose-built to support.

Certainly, Zero Trust security and the critical role of segmentation will be a hot topic at the RSA Conference where Illumio will have plenty to say.
