Hiring Smarter: Illumio’s Approach to AI and Authenticity

At Illumio, we’re embracing AI to make hiring smarter, more efficient, and more human—not less. We believe technology should enhance the recruiting experience, not replace the personal connections that make it meaningful. This guide shares how we use AI in our hiring process and how we encourage candidates to use it thoughtfully too.

How Illumio Uses AI

We use AI to support—not substitute—our recruiters and hiring managers. Every decision is made by people, not algorithms. Currently, we use AI to help us:

Craft job descriptions that are clear, inclusive, and reflect our values and the needs of each team.

Source and screen candidates based on criteria set by recruiters and hiring managers, ensuring consistency, fairness, and access to the best candidates in the market.*

Ensure integrity by flagging patterns that may suggest misrepresentation, helping us maintain a fair and honest process for candidates and hiring managers alike

Support interviews with candidate consented note taking to capture insights and ensure structured, consistent interviews that index on clarity, consistency and fairness across interviews.

We’re committed to using AI ethically and transparently. It’s a tool to enhance human judgment—not override it.

How Illumio Candidates Can Use AI (and How Not To)

We encourage candidates to use AI to help them put their best authentic foot forward. Here’s the guidance that we ask you to follow as an Illumio candidate:

Smart Uses of AI:

Refining your resume and/or cover letter after writing your own draft.

Researching Illumio’s products, mission, and journey.

Submitting the job description to AI and asking it to help you with practice questions or building a study guide.

What to Avoid:

Using AI to generate real-time responses during interviews—we want to hear your authentic voice.

Relying on AI for technical assessments or tasks meant to showcase your direct personal knowledge, skills and abilities.

Using AI to fabricate roles, achievements, or qualifications.

We value your ideas, your experiences, and your problem-solving approach. AI can help you present your best self—but it shouldn’t stand in for who you are.

Our goal is to use the power of AI responsibly, together. At Illumio, we’re building a future where AI and people work side by side, starting with how we hire. Thanks again for your interest in Illumio and in our mission to enable every organization to realize a future without high-profile breaches.
