Illumio Announces Partnership with F5

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – April 14, 2015 Illumio today announced that its Adaptive Security Platform (ASP)™ now extends to the F5® BIG-IP® product family, integrating its application delivery capabilities as an additional point of enforcement behind the perimeter. The F5 integration and expanded Illumio ASP capabilities give enterprise security teams the power to apply automated, real-time security across the widest range of applications, workloads and processes in any data center or public and private cloud.

“F5 security solutions are exceptional at incorporating user and application context into data center and public cloud security policies,” said Calvin Rowland, SVP of Business Development, F5 Networks. “We are pleased that Illumio has joined F5’s Technology Alliance Program and are infusing unique visibility and controls into F5’s application protection solutions.”

The software-based Illumio ASP provides the first continuous delivery system for security—it shrinks attack surfaces and reduces data breach and compliance violation risks. Illumio ASP automatically determines the ideal security policy and manages enforcement across applications, workloads and processes as they are provisioned. It then automatically maintains and enforces updated policies in real time when changes occur.

“In partnership with F5, Illumio enables customers to protect their organizations against advanced threats and attacks by giving them greater control over their network investments within the data center—where 80 percent of their vulnerable traffic and data reside,” said Andrew Rubin, co-founder and CEO, Illumio. “The integration we are announcing today uses a L3/L4 firewall iRule running on BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager™. Looking forward, we also have plans to extend the solution further by incorporating the powerful capabilities of BIG-IP Advanced Firewall Manager™.”

The subject of separate announcements today, Illumio also announced new product capabilities and a $100 million funding round.
