Illumio Names Denis Maynard SVP of Sales

SUNNYVALE, Calif.—Feb. 9, 2015 (BUSINESS WIRE)—Illumio announced today that Denis Maynard has joined the company as senior vice president of Sales, bringing over 25 years of enterprise sales leadership to the new position. Maynard will build out and oversee Sales at the cloud and data center adaptive security company.

As former senior vice president of Worldwide Sales & Sales Operations for Ruckus Wireless, Maynard more than doubled bookings at the wireless networking equipment manufacturer and helped lead it through its IPO. Prior to Ruckus Wireless, he held a series of executive sales roles at Harmonic, Omneon, QLogic and Cisco.

“Illumio’s category-defining opportunity demands the kind of leadership and proven track record Denis brings,” said Illumio CEO and Co-Founder Andrew Rubin. “His enterprise technology experience makes him the ideal executive to lead this effort, and his intimate understanding of go-to-market strategies will serve us well as we double down on growing our customer base in the coming months.”

“The opportunity to join a company as groundbreaking as Illumio comes along once in a lifetime,” said Maynard. “When you combine the stunning technology underlying the Adaptive Security Platform with the ability of its leadership team and an already strong enterprise client base, it is clear Illumio has everything in place to redefine the industry’s approach to data center and cloud security.”

Founded in 2012, Illumio spent almost two years in stealth developing the Illumio Adaptive Security Platform (ASP) and building out its team. By the time Illumio launched in October 2014, the company had already raised $42.5 million in funding from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst Partners and Formation8.

Today, Illumio is accelerating its growth and building out its Sales and Marketing teams to support that continued expansion and meet market demand for its adaptive security tools and technologies. Industry leaders including Morgan Stanley, Plantronics, NTTi3 and Creative Arts Agency (CAA) are already using Illumio ASP to meet their growing security and enforcement needs.
