Illumio Adds IBM AIX and Oracle Solaris Support for its Adaptive Security Platform

Industry’s Most Robust and Trusted Application Micro-Segmentation Solution Now Reaches Deeper into Mission-Critical Data Center and Cloud Applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – October 25, 2017 – Illumio today announced its Adaptive Security Platform (ASP)™ now supports IBM AIX and Oracle Solaris operating systems – providing full visibility and adaptive micro-segmentation to mission-critical systems. Many applications in financial services, government and healthcare depend on multiple different operating system types and releases, with AIX and Solaris being two of the most common. The added support for AIX and Solaris allows Illumio to secure the broadest range of applications and computing environments, including bare-metal servers, VMs, and containers. The new capabilities are currently shipping.

"Many of our customers need micro-segmentation for their essential business applications, whether for compliance or because they want to be proactive about protecting against threats," said Matthew Glenn, vice president of product management at Illumio. "Over the past few years, customers have continued to reiterate the important role AIX and Solaris play in their environments, which led us to prioritize building support for these operating systems into our broader solution."

Illumio now provides the widest support for a range of computing environments in physical and virtual computing environments. Unlike the limited application dependency visualization features provided by traditional security solutions for these operating systems, Illumio provides full visibility and policy enforcement in order to achieve micro-segmentation at scale. Delivering AIX and Solaris capabilities allows Illumio’s customers to meet compliance requirements such as SWIFT, PCI, and GDPR.

Initially launched in October 2014, Illumio is the first and only pure software platform to streamline micro-segmentation without any dependencies on the hypervisor or other infrastructure components. Illumio ASP offers unparalleled operational efficiency, enterprise scale, and reliability, adapting in real-time in the most dynamic computing environments.
